Major Swedish businesses are displaying innovative green solutions at the Green Economy Forum and Exhibition (GEFE) 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to meet Vietnam’s urgent needs in sustainability and circular economy.

The Swedish Pavilion at GEFE 2024 gathers advances in renewable energy, reducing emissions, the circular economy, and new technologies by leading companies such as Atlas Copco, Ecolearn, Ericsson, H&M, Hitachi Energy, Husqvarna, and Trelleborg.

“The Swedish Pavilion shows our dedication to sustainability. We want to inspire deeper collaboration between Sweden and Vietnam for a greener future,” stated Swedish Ambassador Johan Ndisi on Monday.

The diplomat boasted about his country’s innovation. As the second most innovative nation in the world, Sweden is home to some of the most pioneering and innovative companies that offer cutting-edge solutions from 5G, smart grids, energy storage systems to polymer solutions, food packages, generators and pumps that boost efficiency and climate resilience, supporting Vietnam's sustainable development goals.

Regarding sustainability, Sweden aims for net zero emissions by 2045. “We are proud to share our journey and best practices with Vietnam. Collaboration is key to tackling climate change, and we aim to connect Swedish companies with key stakeholders in Vietnam’s sustainable development market,” said the ambassador.

The same day, the Swedish embassy launched the "Sweden-Vietnam Business Footprint," highlighting the strong partnership between the two countries and the contributions of Swedish companies in Vietnam.

Rita Mokbel, president and CEO of Ericsson Vietnam, noted that sustainability is at the heart of her company vision, “providing a world with limitless connectivity to improve lives, redefine business and pioneer a sustainable future.”

She added that 5G is significantly more energy efficient than previous generations, supporting both cost and emissions reductions. 5G networks are also playing a multiplier role in addressing climate change by reducing not only the ICT industry's own emissions, but also enabling other sectors to transition toward a low-carbon economy.

Earlier this month, Ericsson partnered with Vietnamese telecom heavyweights Vietttel and MobiFone to establish a new innovation hub and expanded deployment of RAN (Radio Access Network) in a move to boost use of 5G in the country.

A representative from Atlas Copco Group highlighted the company’s innovation in developing products, services, and solutions that are key to its customers’ success.

In Vietnam, Atlas Copco offers assembly systems, power tools, generators, pumps, light towers, and reliable 24/7 rental services. Atlas Copco Vietnam provides solutions that offer the lowest total cost of ownership, highest energy efficiency, and minimal environmental impact.

GEFE 2024 opened on Monday, uniting global leaders, business executives, policymakers, and sustainability advocates. The event, hosted by EuroCham Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, is expected to attract over 8,000 participants across its three-day agenda filled with high-level dialogues, exhibitions, and B2B networking opportunities.

It offers a venue connecting Vietnamese leaders with European companies, offering a platform to explore valuable partnerships that can enhance Vietnam’s green initiatives.

Attendees will gain insights from industry experts and discover practical solutions tailored to local challenges.
