Taiwan firms opens $15 mln factory in Vietnam, to export cameras, lens to Japan, US
Ability Electronics Technology Vietnam, under Taiwanese manufacturer and designer of optical devices Ability Enterprise, opened its $15 million factory in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on Friday.
Covering 1.5 hectares in Ba Thien Industrial Park, the plant has an annual capacity of 250,000 digital cameras, security cameras, and optical items; 30,000 lens; 30,000 image printers; 5,000 loudspeakers; 168,000 digital image frames; and 210,000 transmission devices.

The project was licensed by provincial authorities in December 2023 and is set to employ 500 people, paying VND18 billion ($712,170) to the provincial budget yearly.
It aligns with Vinh Phuc’s investment priorities for 2020-2025 and beyond, according to the provincial industrial park authority.
The firm will export its products to Japanese partner Fushi, American partner Aura, and other customers.
Registered foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam totaled $27.26 billion in the first 10 months of this year, up 1.9% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment. Vinh Phuc ranked 25th with $204.2 million, down 25.7% year-on-year.
Vietnam’s January-October index of industrial production (IIP) grew 8.3% year-on-year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said. Vinh Phuc, an industrial hub in the northern region, outpaced the country’s average with an 11.15% growth, according to provincial data.
