Thailand submits letter of intent to join BRICS
Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sanjampongsa has handed over to his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov an official letter of intent to become a full member of BRICS.

The handover of this document was carried out after the "BRICS Dialogue with developing countries" which took place in Nizhni Novgorod, Russia on June 11.
Russia assumes the rotating presidency of BRICS in 2024.
BRICS is an important grouping bringing together major emerging economies from the world, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Of these, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia are new members admitted this year.
The BRICS Summit will be held in Kazan, the capital city of Tatarstan, Russia, next October.
