Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has appointed Tien Quoc Hao as chairman of Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) and Osamu Hirata as the subsidiary's general director, starting January 1, 2026.
Hao, a Canadian born in Ho Chi Minh City, currently serves as deputy chief executive officer of the Asia Region, deputy chief officer of the Sales Financial Business Group of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), and president of Toyota Motor Asia (Singapore).
Concurrently, he holds the position of chief executive officer for Toyota Financial Services Asia (TFS).

Hao firstly joined Toyota Canada in 1999. Since then, he held multiple key executives’ posts in sales and marketing for Toyota and Lexus in several regions, including North America, Japan, China, and Asia.
He holds a bachelor of applied science (BASc) in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, a master of business administration (MBA) from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and a chartered director designation from the DeGroote School of Business in Canada.
Meanwhile, Osamu Hirata succeeded Nakano Keita who had held the position of general director for three years, from February 2023 to December 2025.

After graduating from Waseda University, Hirata joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in 1995 and worked for nearly nine years in the international business planning department.
In 2004, he was appointed deputy head of the department, before moving to Singapore to serve as deputy head of product planning for Toyota Asia Pacific from 2005 to 2008.
He then went on to hold several key positions in global and North American strategic planning, including head of the North American division and senior executive coordinator at Toyota America.
His leadership trajectory was further solidified with positions as vice president (since 2016), project manager, and head of sales planning and operations.
Most recently, Hirata served as the group vice president, overseeing Toyota and Lexus sales operations in North America until 2023. In 2024, he was appointed head of sales operations and planning for Toyota Motor Corporation.
Given their extensive and diverse experience across many regions globally, Toyota Vietnam is confident that chairman Tien Quoc Hao and general director Osamu Hirata will lead the company to continued strong growth, the company stated in a release posted on its website on Friday.
Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) planned to invest about VND9.46 trillion ($359.2 million) in the first phase of its plant expansion project in Phu Tho province. Then general director Nakano Keita disclosed the information at a meeting with Tran Duy Dong, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, on October 15, 2025.
The executive added that the project, located in Phuc Yen ward, the former Vinh Phuc province (now part of Phu Tho province after their merger) will focus on developing electrified vehicle models, including hybrids. Its construction is set to begin in 2026 and operations are expected to start by Q4/2028.
