Tra Vinh province seeks $1.3 bln for 44 projects
The Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh is calling for investments of at least VND30,466 billion ($1.29 billion) in 44 projects this year, according to its latest investment promotion program.

The list includes nine industrial, one agriculture, 25 infrastructure-urban area-environment, and nine commerce-tourism-service projects. Tra Vinh aims to seek big foreign investors, especially those leading supply chains.
Of the nine industrial projects, the biggest is a VND200 billion ($8.44 million) shrimp processing factory in the 39,020-hectare Dinh An Economic Zone, with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons.
The other eight are factories for making animal feed or processing and preserving farm produce and fisheries, and one handbag plant.
The only agricultural project is a 9.9-hectare cow farming area in Chau Thanh district with unspecified details on scale and investment.
Among the 25 infrastructure-urban area-environment projects, the largest is a 1,241-hectare industrial, service and urban complex within Dinh An Economic Zone, with investment capital of VND7,400 billion ($312.12 million).
Another key project is the VND5,600 billion ($236.2 million) Don Xuan Industrial Park. The 934-hectare project within Dinh An Economic Zone is set to serve the sectors of petrochemicals, chemicals, shipbuilding, steel production, and others.
The Dinh An Industrial Park project, with an investment of VND3,550 billion ($149.73 million), is also a major project. The 591-hectare project aims to serve the sectors of construction materials, food processing, beverage, and others.
Of the nine commerce-tourism-service projects, the most notable is the VND750 billion ($31.63 million) Ao Ba Om resort-tourism-culture complex. The 15.7-hectare facility is located in Ward 8, Tra Vinh town.
Another one is the 30-hectare Ba Dong marine eco-tourism area worth VND500 billion ($21.09 million) in Dinh An Economic Zone.
Tra Vinh province had attracted 38 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered capital of $3.19 billion as of February 20, ranking 28th among 63 cities and provinces across Vietnam in terms of registered FDI, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
