Trung Nguyen starts work on $83.6 mln coffee expansion in Vietnam’s coffee hub
Trung Nguyen Legend on Thursday broke ground on a new coffee manufacturing complex and launched an expansion of its existing processing facility in the central province of Dak Lak, as the country's largest domestic coffee brand seeks to move further up the value chain and capitalize on rising global demand for Robusta beans.
The projects, located at Tan An 2 Industrial Cluster, carry an initial investment of nearly VND1.2 trillion ($45.6 million), with an additional VND1 trillion ($38 million) planned for a second phase, the company said.
The investments form part of a broader strategy to strengthen processing capacity in Dal Lak's Buon Ma Thuot, Vietnam’s coffee-growing hub, and increase the value of the country’s dominant Robusta coffee sector.

The centerpiece of the expansion is the Trung Nguyen legend energy coffee factory, which the company said is designed to become Southeast Asia’s largest and most advanced instant coffee manufacturing facility.
The plant will be built to net-zero sustainability standards and focus on producing higher-value coffee products for domestic and export markets.
At the same time, Trung Nguyen is expanding its existing coffee processing factory to 2.5 hectares to increase deep-processing capacity and secure raw material supply for its manufacturing network.
Once operational in 2027, the projects will raise Trung Nguyen Legend’s total factories to five, with three located in Dak Lak.
The company said the new facilities would support Vietnam’s ambition to develop Buon Ma Thuot into a global coffee processing hub and help boost the country’s coffee industry toward a target value of $20 billion.
Vietnam is currently the world's second-largest coffee producer after Brazil. Dak Lak, the world's largest robusta coffee producer, supplies more than 40% of Vietnam's coffee exports to over 70 countries and territories.
In 2025, Vietnam's coffee exports hiked 52.5% year-on-year to record $8.6 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
