US state Nebraska, Binh Duong province ink multifaceted cooperation pact
Nebraska, a Midwestern state in the U.S., and Vietnam’s southern industrial province of Binh Duong have agreed to step up cooperation in many areas.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed Wednesday by Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen and Binh Duong Chairman Vo Van Minh. Pillen visited the southern province as part of a week-long visit to Vietnam aimed at exploring trade opportunities.

The two sides agreed to forge a strong relationship for mutual benefit, deepening collaboration in planning, infrastructure development, urban construction, trade and investment.
They also agreed to give priority to science, technology, trade promotion and investment in the high-tech sector, services, education, training and supply chain development.
Furthermore, they will work together to create optimal conditions for businesses to utilize investment opportunities in each other’s markets.
The Nebraska Governor said his state’s cooperation with Binh Duong would open up new collaboration opportunities.
Also on Wednesday, the governor visited the Eastern International University (EIU) in Binh Duong and witnessed the signing of an MoU between the local university and the University of Nebraska-Omaha on cooperation in training in science, technology, healthcare, technology, economics and other disciplines.
The two universities will also bolster their academic and student exchange programs.
EIU has been founded by Binh Duong-based Becamex IDC, a leading developer of large-scale industrial parks and urban areas in Vietnam.
“Nebraska has had many positive visits and exchanges with Vietnam over the years. This visit is another step in strengthening that bond,” Pillen said in a statement issued by his office Monday.
The governor’s entourage on this visit includes: Nebraska Department of Agriculture Director Sherry Vinton and other state officials; chancellor Joanne Li of the University of Nebraska – Omaha and other academics; and representatives of agriculture-related businesses.
