Vietjet, Rolls-Royce ink deal for engines, services to power new A330neo fleet
Vietjet and Rolls-Royce, a leading British aerospace and defense company, have signed an agreement for 40 Trent 7000 engines and the TotalCare engine service to power the 20 new A330neo aircraft ordered a day earlier.
The signing took place at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow in the UK on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in advancing the airline's engine technology capabilities and related solutions, it said in a statement.

The deal came after the Vietnamese low-cost carrier struck a contract for the purchase of 20 new-generation wide-body A330neo (A330-900) aircraft, worth a total of $7.4 billion at the manufacturer’s list price.
The Trent 7000 is a modern and new generation engine developed by Rolls-Royce, focusing on environmental protection and sustainability. Vietjet has committed to the A330neo/Trent 7000 combination as it delivers a 14% better fuel burn per seat, while significantly lowering emissions.
TotalCare is an industry-leading premium service, supported by data delivered through the Rolls-Royce advanced engine health monitoring system. The agreement will also complement the airline’s existing TotalCare coverage of the Trent 700 powered A330ceo fleet.
Rolls-Royce develops and delivers complex power and propulsion solutions for safety-critical applications in the air, at sea, and on land. The company is investing more than GBP1 billion ($1.29 billion) in a program that will deliver further improvements to the Trent engine family.
Vietjet is actively expanding its flight network to numerous international destinations, serving passengers throughout Vietnam, Australia, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, and more intercontinental destinations.
Currently, the carrier is strengthening partnerships with leading global aviation and technology partners.
In February 2019, during U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to Hanoi, Vietjet placed an order to acquire 100 737 MAX airplanes worth $12.7 billion from American aircraft maker Boeing.
In September 2023, on the sidelines of President Joe Biden’s whirlwind Vietnam visit, Vietjet and Boeing reached an agreement to deliver the first 12 aircraft in 2024.
