Vietnam Education Publishing House (VEPH) recently held a series of meetings with publishing, education, technology and digital content partners in the United Kingdom as part of efforts to expand international cooperation and strengthen its educational publishing capabilities.

The delegation, led by Nguyen Tien Thanh, chairman and general director of VEPH, visited the UK from May 19-21 to explore developments in educational publishing, digital learning resources, copyright management and education technology, while also promoting Vietnamese-language learning materials for overseas Vietnamese communities.

During the visit, VEPH met with a range of organizations involved in educational publishing, digital learning solutions, copyright licensing and content management.

At a meeting with Oxford University Press, the two sides discussed organizational models, digital product ecosystems, educational content development and emerging trends in global educational publishing.

VEPH and Oxford University Press have collaborated for nearly a decade in English-language publishing. Their partnership includes the "Friends" English textbook series for grades 1 through 12, developed under Vietnam's 2018 national education curriculum.

The textbook series has been approved by Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training and has been widely adopted by schools and teachers nationwide. Building on their existing partnership, the two organizations explored opportunities for further cooperation as Vietnam's education system continues to evolve.

The delegation also met with officials at the Vietnamese Embassy in the United Kingdom to discuss access to Vietnamese-language publications for the Vietnamese community, particularly younger generations living abroad.

VEPH presented initiatives designed to support Vietnamese-language teaching and learning overseas, including the provision of digital textbooks, participation in the "Vietnamese Bookshelf" initiative and teacher training programs for Vietnamese-language instructors abroad.

At talks with Efekta Education Group, discussions focused on the application of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and education technology solutions in language learning.

The two organizations are currently implementing the Happy Learning Lab program under an MoU signed in January 2026. The initiative combines VEPH's English reading content, branded as "Happy Reading," with Efekta's AI-powered educational technology platform.

The delegation also met with representatives of Shutterstock to explore issues related to image and video licensing, digital asset management, content governance and the use of generative artificial intelligence in education.

VEPH said the discussions would support its ongoing digital transformation efforts in publishing, curriculum development and educational content creation.

UK partners expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the Vietnamese publisher on future projects and products.

"We see significant potential in Vietnam and regard Vietnam Education Publishing House as a trusted and highly reputable partner," said Stephen Hodges, CEO of Efekta Education Group.

The UK visit forms part of VEPH's broader strategy to strengthen international partnerships, keep pace with developments in educational publishing and digital learning technologies, and enhance the quality of its educational products.

The publisher said the initiative also supports efforts to promote Vietnamese language, knowledge and culture internationally as Vietnam deepens its global integration.
