Vietnam, France exchange cooperation documents on transportation, nuclear power, vaccine

Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday witnessed the exchange of many cooperation documents between the two countries.

The French President and his spouse are on a state visit to Vietnam from May 25-27.

The documents cover many cooperation fields, including national defense, transportation, science-technology, nuclear power for peaceful purposes, power transmission, seaport exploitation, aviation, and earth observation satellites. The documents are as follows:

- Vietnam's Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang and Minister of the French Army Sébastien Lecornu exchanged a Letter of Intent between the two countries' defense ministries on enhancing cooperation in the field of defense equipment (pictured below).

- Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh and French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet exchanged a Cooperation Plan for 2025-2026 between the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice and the French Embassy in Vietnam.

- Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra and Minister of Culture Rachida Dati exchanged a Letter of Intent between the Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs and the French Ministry of Culture in the field of archives.

- Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy and director general of the French Development Agency (AFD) Rémy Rioux exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and AFD on cooperation in the field of agriculture and environment for the period 2025-2030.

- Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh and director general of AFD Rémy Rioux exchanged a Letter of Intent between the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the French Ministry of Transport on promoting cooperation in transport.

- Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy and Minister in charge of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Francophone, and French International Partnerships Thani Mohamed Soilihi exchanged a Cooperation Agreement on Science, Technology and Innovation between the two Governments.

- Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy and French Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial Sovereignty and Digitalization Eric Lombard exchanged a Letter of Intent between the two ministries on cooperation in using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

- Deputy Minister of Finance Bui Van Khang and director general of AFD Rémy Rioux exchanged a Loan Agreement between AFD and the Ministry of Finance for a project on drought, erosion and flood adaptation in Ninh Thuan province.

- General director of Vietnam's National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) Pham Le Phu and director general of AFD Rémy Rioux exchanged a Credit Agreement to finance a project on strengthening the southern power transmission grid of EVNNPT.

- Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan, general director of Saigon Newport Corporation, and chairman of CMA-CGM Group Rodolphe Saade exchanged the Minutes of a Cooperation Agreement on exploitation of the Lach Huyen Terminal 7 and 8 project in Hai Phong city between Saigon Newport Corporation and CMA-CGM Group (CMA Terminals).

- Prof. Le Truong Giang, deputy director of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet (on behalf of the French National Center for Space Studies - CNES), and senior vice president and general director of the Public Satellite System Stéphane Vesval exchanged the Minutes of a Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Airbus Defense and Space (Airbus) and the French National Center for Space Studies (CNES) regarding the deployment of Earth observation satellites.

- Chairwoman of Vietjet Air Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and president of Airbus Global Wouter Van Wersch exchanged a Contract for the purchase of 20 wide-body A330-900 aircraft between the two companies.

- General director of Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company (VNVC) Ngo Chi Dung and president of Sanofi Southeast Asia-India Zainab Sadat Qayyum exchanged a Partnership Agreement on technology transfer for vaccine production in Vietnam between Sanofi Pasteur and Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company (VNVC) (pictured below).
