Vietnam has a total of 296 ports under a new list compiled by the Ministry of Transport that divides them by locality instead of region.

The new list removes several ports that have closed and absorbs some into a larger entity.

The Ha Long mechanical port, a border port in Hai Phong, the Tan Cang port, the Holcim Hiep Phuoc cement port and Ba Son shipbuilding port in Ho Chi Minh City have closed since the last list was prepared.

The VIMC Hau Giang general port (Hau Giang province) and the Lee & Man international specialized port are now part of the Hau Giang seaport rather than Can Tho seaport. The Superdong Tran De Port will be in the Soc Trang seaport area, rather than Can Tho city.
