Vietnam imports 151,590 automobiles in 11 months
Vietnam imported 151,590 completely built unit (CBU) vehicles worth $3.4 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up 4.7% and 5.7% year-on-year, respectively.
The figures are accelerating towards the 2021 result of importing 160,035 CBU cars worth $3.66 billion, according to Vietnam Customs.
In terms of volume, Indonesia was the biggest car supplier to Vietnam in the 11-month period with 63,987 units worth $934.4 million; followed by Thailand with 61,101 cars worth $1.2 billion; and China with 16,240 with a value of $670 million.
The three countries accounted for 141,328 units of imports, or 93.23% of the total.
In November, the country imported 22,736 units worth $468.08 million, a new record in terms of volume. The largest providers were also Thailand with 10,770, Indonesia with 9,630, and China with 498. Other notable suppliers featured Russia with 413, the U.S. with 406, and Germany with 203.
In January-November, Vietnam spent $5.34 billion on importing car spare parts and accessories, up 18.8% year-on-year. That included $532.8 million in November, up 4.9% year-on-year.
