Vietnam promotes 40-year-old official as deputy information minister
Bui Hoang Phuong, 40, erstwhile head of personnel and organization affairs under the Ministry of Information and Communications, has been appointed deputy minister of the ministry.
His appointment followed a decision signed Monday by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Phuong, born 1983, studied information technology at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. He obtained a master's degree in information technology from the University of Portsmouth and a master's degree in business administration from the Newcastle University in the U.K.
Before becoming deputy minister, Phuong held many leadership positions in the ministry. He was chief of the ministry’s office (from August 2020 to January 2022), chief inspector (from January 2022 to October 2022) and head of the department of personnel and organization (from October 2022).
The Ministry of Information and Communications has five deputy ministers: Phan Tam, Nguyen Huy Dung, Pham Duc Long, Nguyen Thanh Lam, and Bui Hoang Phuong. Deputy Minister Dung was also born in 1983.
