Vietnam seeks further invesment from Tata in tea, food processing

Tata Consumer Products should further expand investment in Vietnam and consider developing businesses in sectors such as tea production and food processing, said Vienam's Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan.

Tuan made the statement while meeting with Sunil D'Souza, managing director and CEO of India's Tata Consumer Products, in Mumbai last Thursday, as part of the India visit by a high-level Vietnamese delegation led by Party chief and President To Lam.

The minister noted that Vietnam was prioritizing the development of a modern, efficient and sustainable agricultural processing industry, while encouraging deep-processing projects, advanced technologies, and sustainable supply chains to enhance the added value of agricultural exports.

He affirmed that Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance would continue facilitating the company’s operations and long-term investment activities in the country.

Tuan praised Tata Consumer Products’ operations in Vietnam, particularly the Tata Coffee Vietnam Co., Ltd. project in Ho Chi Minh City, currently India’s largest investment in Vietnam.

The minister said he welcomed the company’s implementation of the project’s second phase, which is expected to become operational before July 2027 and double production capacity.

In response, D’Souza said Tata Group highly valued Vietnam’s investment environment and the growth potential of its consumer goods processing industry.

He expressed hope for continued support from Vietnamese ministries and agencies as the company expands production and strengthens cooperation with local partners, particularly in deep processing and sustainable supply chain development.
