Specifically, they reported sales of 20,766 units of passenger vehicles, dropping 7% from March; 8,619 units of commercial vehicles, down 7%, and 200 special-purpose vehicles, up 11%.
Domestically assembled vehicles posted a reduction of 7% with 13,890 units delivered, while Vietnam’s imports of completely built-up (CBU) vehicles saw sales fall 60% to 15,695 units.
Toyota maintained its market leadership with 5,566 units sold in April, followed by Ford (3,997), Mitsubishi (2,038), Thaco Mazda (2,736), and Thaco Kia (2,055).
The best-selling models included the Mitsubishi Xpander (4,031 units), Ford Everest (1,090), and Toyota Yaris Cross (1,030).
By product line, SUVs continued to lead with 5,867 vehicles, followed by MPVs with 3,798 vehicles and sedans with 3,292 vehicles.
In the commercial vehicle group, pickup trucks and minivans continued to dominate. In particular, the hybrid vehicle segment continued to grow positively, reaching 973 vehicles in April, bringing the total to 3,535 vehicles since the beginning of the year - an increase of 82% over the same period last year.
In the first four months of 2025, total market sales reached 101,834 units, marking a 23% increase year-on-year. Passenger car sales rose 22%, commercial vehicles climbed 27%, while special-purpose vehicles surged 49%.
Sales of imported vehicles jumped 35%, while domestically assembled units rose 13%.
Industry experts believe that with increased consumer demand and support policies from automakers, the domestic automobile market is forecast to further thrive in the second and third quarters of this year.
