Vietnam's Golden Bridge named among world's most iconic bridges
The Golden Bridge in the coastal city of Danang in central Vietnam has been named among the world's 10 most iconic bridges by India's Luxebook business magazine.
Danang, a tourism hub, boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Southeast Asia.
"More than being a pure architecture piece, Golden Bridge has been asserting itself as a new symbol of Danang’s tourism since its opening in June 2018. This striking bridge is one of the most photographed spots in Danang, located within Ba Na Hills," the magazine wrote.
"This 500-foot-long golden bridge appears to be cradled by two oversized hands, which adds to the majestic appeal of the design of the bridge. In Bà Nà Hills near Danang, this creative pedestrian bridge connects the cable car station with the gardens below. Strolling around the Golden Bridge is like walking on the clouds across the hands of the God of Mountain," it added.
With a length of 150 meters and located at 1,414 meters above sea level, the Golden Bridge creates a path in the air. Visitors can see the primeval forests stretching far and the beautiful city of Danang.
The bridge was voted by Time magazine as one of the “Top 10 best destinations in the world 2018”, and lauded by The Guardian as “The world’s most impressive pedestrian bridge”.
The other bridges on the list are: Golden Gate Bridge (San Fransico), Pont Alexandre III (Paris), The Twist, Jevnaker (Norway), Rialto Bridge (Venice), Khaju Bridge (Isfahan), Charles Bridge (Prague), Helix Bridge (Singapore), Tower Bridge (London), and Harbour Bridge (Sydney).
In June 22, Danang was ranked third on a list of the world's nine places to visit in August by popular Scottish flight booking platform SkyScanner.
"While north and south Vietnam are right in the middle of monsoon season, Danang and the rest of central Vietnam remains dry and sunny during August. Temperatures tend to sit between 24°C to 34°C, perfect for lazy days on the beach or mornings exploring the nearby attractions," it said.
According to the booking platform, Danang is famous for its soft golden sands, clean crystal waters, and watersports, making the city one of Vietnam’s best beach destinations. Start at My Khe Beach or Non Nuoc Beach, which have calm waves perfect for swimming in.
In mid-May, Danang was listed among 10 Asia's best scenic mountain vistas by the Microsoft Travel news site.
Meanwhile, My Khe beach was recently ranked eighth on a list of Asia's top 10 beaches by the world's largest travel platform TripAdvisor.
About five kilometers from the city center, My Khe runs 10 kilometers from the base of Son Tra Peninsula to the Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son). The beach is famous for its blue sky, smooth white sand, gentle slope, clear and warm water year-round, and beautiful areas surrounded by coconut trees.
