Vietnam's TTC AgriS, Indonesia's Sungai Budi partner in sustainable agriculture
Vietnam’s agriculture major Thanh Thanh Cong-Bien Hoa JSC (TTC AgriS) and Sungai Budi Group, one of Indonesia's largest conglomerates, will jointly establish an R&D center for sustainable agriculture and develop a model sugarcane demo farm covering 2,000 hectares in Indonesia.
The project will apply modern farming technologies to improve crop yields and raw material quality, while promoting green transformation across the agricultural value chain.
To this end, the two sides last Friday signed agreements to implement the MoU reached in March in Indonesia on strategic cooperation to enhance the application of science and technology and develop agricultural value chains in both countries
Regarding coconut business, TTC AgriS and Sungai Budi Group discussed a joint venture cooperation plan to be launched in 2025, aiming to scale up production to 300 million liters/kilograms, in two phases.
The project will develop a production and commercial platform for coconut-based products, with an initial capacity of 120 million liters/kilograms to supply both the Indonesian and international markets.
The two parties will also collaborate closely with local farmers to develop 20,000 hectares of organic coconut plantations.

Speaking at the event, TTC AgriS chairwoman Dang Huynh Uc My said that with more than half a century of continuous innovation, TTC AgriS has transformed from a domestic sugar enterprise into a comprehensive international agricultural solutions provider.
“We are committed to strong investment in R&D and technology, building a circular value chain as our core foundation – not only to enhance competitiveness but also to demonstrate our commitment to global ESG standards," she stressed.
Director of Sungai Budi Group Oey Alfred highlighted the potential of this strategic partnership, particularly the synergy in vision and strengths shared between the two leading agricultural corporations.
Immediately after the signing ceremony, the Indonesian delegation conducted a field trip to TTC AgriS’s high-tech agricultural complexes in the southern provinces of Tay Ninh and Ben Tre, which showcased the company’s strong capacity for innovation, optimized operations, and scalability in sustainable agricultural solutions.
At the Ninh Dien demo farm in Tay Ninh, the delegation observed firsthand various precision agriculture applications, such as smart irrigation systems, crop monitoring drones, and IoT sensors, all of which help optimize resource use and enhance crop quality. This technology platform is developed by TTC Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) – the key R&D center of TTC AgriS.
They also visited TTC Tay Ninh sugar factory, where a large-scale circular economy model is in place, turning bagasse into electricity, molasses into ethanol, and filter mud into organic fertilizer.
This closed-loop model, from R&D to cultivation and processing, was highly praised by the Indonesian partners, particularly Sungai Budi’s leadership, for its sustainability, investment efficiency, and scalability.
The delegation then traveled to Ben Tre, where TTC AgriS and Vietnam’s major coconut manufacturer Betrimex are developing a comprehensive and closed-loop coconut value chain, starting from organic raw material areas to international-standard deep-processing facilities.
A standout feature is the organic coconut farming model, which integrates traceability via QR codes and is geared towards a circular economy, leaving a strong impression as a testament to continuous efforts to enhance the value of Vietnamese agricultural products through sustainable development.
TTC AgriS and Betrimex own the largest organic coconut farming area in Vietnam. In addition to traditional products such as desiccated coconut and virgin coconut oil, the companies introduced a wide range of high value-added coconut-based products, including convenient bottled coconut water and coconut milk, catering to global consumption trends in direct use, mixing, and cooking.
Indonesia a strategic market in TTC AgriS’s regional vision
As the fourth most populous country in the world and the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia has always been a key focus in TTC AgriS's strategic vision.
The realization of these strategic commitments not only expands the firm’s international operations, but also deepens the Vietnam-Indonesia partnership, contributing to the goal of increasing bilateral trade to $18 billion before 2028.
Through this, TTC AgriS affirms its role as a pioneer in promoting a flexible, self-reliant agricultural supply chain, effectively responding to global economic fluctuations, while also reinforcing the central role of ASEAN in the global agricultural value chain.
TTC AgriS is listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange as SBT, which closed Wednesday at VND16,950 ($0.65) per share.
