VinFast opens 10 charging stations at Petrolimex stations
Carmaker VinFast on Friday launched 10 charging stations at fuel stations of Petrolimex in Vietnam, paving the way for opening more than 500 similar points across the country under a joint partnership.
The partnership, inked this June, is expected to meet the increasing usage of electric cars and motorbikes in Vietnam.
The pair’s first 10 charging stations are in Dien Bien, Phu Tho, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Danang, Khanh Hoa, Tien Giang, and Ca Mau, stretching from the north to south.
The two Vietnamese companies will continue to install more charging stations as agreed.
In addition to cooperating with Vietnamese fuel partners like Petrolimex, electric vehicle startup VinFast is building its own charging stations nationwide.
VinFast was set up by Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate Vingroup in 2017 as its car unit, and launched its first cars in October 2018. It has gradually shifted to manufacturing EVs and put the brake on producing fossil fuel vehicles.
Petrolimex is Vietnam's largest gasoline retailer, holding more than 50% of Vietnam's market share.
