Vinhomes, a real estate subsidiary of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup intends to break ground on a VND59 trillion ($2.24 billion) international university township in Ho Chi Minh City in July 2026, according to an environmental impact assessment report.

The project, known as the Berjaya international university township, will be developed by Berjaya Vietnam International University Town LLC, whose 97.4% stake is held by Vinhomes.

It will cover about 880 hectares in Xuan Thoi Son commune, the report said.

Vinhomes expects to complete all legal procedures by June 2026, with construction starting a month later. Full operations are targeted for early 2035.

The township is designed as a large-scale education and research hub and is positioned as the core of an education cluster in the city’s northern area, aimed at easing pressure on downtown HCMC.

Under the master plan, the project will accommodate around 135,000 people, including about 60,000 students. The Berjaya project was first granted an investment licence in 2008, with the latest adjustment to its investment policy approved in January 2025.

Vinhomes, Vietnam’s largest residential developer, reported a land bank of nearly 20,000 hectares as of end-2024, which it said is sufficient for development over the next three decades.

Beyond the Berjaya project, the company plans to roll out additional large-scale developments in Ho Chi Minh City and neighbouring provinces from 2026, covering a combined area of about 2,220 hectares.
