VN-Index approaches 1,100-point territory on strong demand

Strong demand pushed the VN-Index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), close to the 1,100-point territory on Wednesday.

The index rose 9.99 points, or 0.92%, to over 1,098.28, marking its sixth consecutive gaining session. The major bourse saw 322 gainers and 105 losers, with more than 604 million shares changing hands for over VND10.2 trillion ($345.12 million).

The VN30 index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest-cap stocks, climbed 11.99 points, or 1.09%, to 1,115.72, with 25 blue chips gaining.

Leading the market were the real estate and manufacturing stocks. In the VN30 basket, VIC of Vingroup was the most positive performer, expanding nearly 3%. Real estate codes like KDH of Khang Dien Holdings, NVL of Novaland, and VHM of Vinhomes showed their good performance.

The retail and banking groups also prospered, with DGW of Digital World hitting its ceiling price, FRT of FPT Retail and MWG of Mobile World gaining more than 4%, and TPB of TPBank and MSN of Masan Group, up 2%.

In the mid-cap group, many real estate stocks hit their ceiling prices, including SCR of Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate JSC, CEO of CEO Group, and L14 of Licogi 14.

Green also covered tickers in the textile, food, chemical or seaport industries.

Foreign investors remained net purchasers to the tune of nearly VND692 billion ($29.52 million) on the HoSE. They mainly purchased SSI of Saigon Securities, VND of VNDirect Securities and VIC.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse gained 2.58 points to 217.73, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market expanded 0.57 points to 73.54.
