VN-Index inches up on support of blue chips
The VN-Index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), recorded a slight rise of 2.77 points, or 0.26%, to 1,054.21 on Monday thanks to the gains of blue chips.
There were 234 losers and 149 gainers on the major bourse, which saw more than 475 million shares changing hands for over VND8.5 trillion ($362.44 million).
The VN30 index, which features the 30 largest-cap stocks, expanded 3.74 points, or 0.35%, to 1,061.14, with 16 tickers gaining.
The banking group led the market with VCB of Vietcombank up 3.6%, VIB of Vietnam International Bank 2.7%, HDB of HDBank and CTG of Vietinbank both nearly 2%.
They were followed by aviation stocks including HVN of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and VJC of Vietjet Air, up 5.3% and 1%, respectively.
Other tickers like NVL of Novaland and PLX of Petrolimex also showed their positive performance.
Foreign investors continued to be net buyers for the 11th consecutive session to the tune of over VND500 billion ($21.32 million) on the HoSE, mainly purchasing blue chips.
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse slightly decreased 0.98 points to 209.67, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market was down 0.02 points to 72.73.
