VN-Index ends four-session losing streak

The VN-Index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), ended a streak of four consecutive losing sessions on Tuesday, gaining 6.32 points, or 0.57%, to close at 1,111.72.

The major bourse saw up to 298 gainers and 127 losers, with more than 695 million shares changing hands for VND13.6 trillion ($578 million), a drop of VND700 billion ($29.75 million) from the previous session and the lowest level since May 26.

Cash flows mainly ran into financial, industrial, real estate and materials groups. According to top Vietnamese broker VNDirect, five of the top 10 stocks with the largest trading value were of real estate companies, namely CII of Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment JSC, EVG of Everland Group, NTL of Tu Liem Urban Development JSC, LDG of LDG Investment JSC, and HHV of Deo Ca Traffic Infrastructure Investment JSC.

Meanwhile, the securities group had two tickers posting the highest liquidity on the HoSE, namely VND of VNDirect with nearly VND570 billion ($24.2 million) and SSI of Saigon Securities Inc. with VND488 billion ($20.7 million).

The VN30 index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest-cap stocks, rose 5.33 points to 1,104.27, with up to 22 tickers gaining and six losing.

Red covered all groups from real estate, securities, banking to manufacturing, aviation, energy and retail. Notably, the property group showed the best performance with almost all tickers surging. LDG, NTL, CII, and ITC of Investment and Trading Of Real Estate JSC hit their ceiling prices; KBC of Kinhbac City Development Holding Corp. expanded by 3.6%, DXG of Dat Xanh Group up 5.17%, PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development Corp. 6.5%, and NVL of Novaland 3.57%.

Foreign investors continued to be net sellers on the HoSE for the second session to the tune of about VND400 billion ($17 million). They mainly net sold VNM of Vinamilk, SSI, and VCB of Vietcombank.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse gained 2.25 points to 228.77, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market achieved 0.27 points to 84.82.
