VN-Index gains for 4th consecutive session
Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index expanded 10.89 points, or 0.90%, to close at 1,224.05 on Thursday, marking its fourth straight gaining session.
The major bourse saw up to 376 gainers and 125 losers, with more than 945 million shares changing hands for VND21.3 trillion ($883.9 million), an increase of 2.3% from the previous session.
The VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest-cap stocks, surged 8.97 points to 1,234.53, with up to 23 tickers rising.

GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group led the VN30 group with a 5.6% rise, followed by HDB of HDBank 3.1%, MSN of conglomerate Masan Group 2.4% and VRE of Vincom Retail 2%.
Three blue chips fell, namely SAB of brewer Sabeco, GAS of state-owned Petrovietnam Gas, and SSI of Saigon Securities.
The green covered almost all stock groups in the market, including banking, securities, real estate, manufacturing, retail and aviation.
Among banking stocks, BID of BIDV went up 1.62%, CTG of VietinBank 1.09%, TCB of Techcombank 1.47%, VIB of Vietnam International Bank 1.75%, SHB of Saigon-Hanoi Bank 1.63%, EIB of Eximbank 2.77%, OCB of Oriental Commercial Bank 1.55%, and HDB of HDBank 3.06%.
The real estate group also showed impressive performance such as NVL up 2%, KDH of Khang Dien House Trading and Investment JSC 3.21%, KBC of Kinhbac City Development Holding Corp. 2.53%, PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development Corp 2.48%, VCG of Vietnam Construction And Import-Export JSC 5.28%, HDG of Ha Do Group 4.38%, CTD of Coteccons Construction JSC 2.27%. Notably, QCG of Quoc Cuong Gia Lai Corp. and HPX of Hai Phat Invest hit their ceiling prices.
Foreign investors were net buyers on the HoSE for the second session to the tune of nearly VND446.5 billion ($18.53 million). They net purchased GMD of logistics company Gemadept Corp and VIX of VIX Securities..
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.72% to 249.75 points, while the UPCoM-Index on the Unlisted Public Companies Market rose 0.69% to 93.32.
