VN-Index gains for sixth straight session, logistics stocks rally
The VN-Index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), earned 2.3 points, or 0.2%, to 1,134.33 on Tuesday, marking its streak of six consecutive gaining sessions.
The major bourse saw 221 tickers rising, 66 going flat, and 194 losing. Its trading value dropped 38% from the previous session to VND14.7 trillion ($624.73 million) with 722 million shares changing hands.
The VN30 index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest-cap stocks, gained 3.18 points to 1,134.41, with 12 gainers and 13 losers.

Tickers of logistics firms became the focus of attention, with PVT of Petrovietnam Transportation Corporation, TMS of Transimex Corporation, PDN of Dong Nai Port JSC, and PVP of Pacific Petroleum Transportation JSC all hitting their ceiling prices; STG of South Logistics JSC expanding 6.36% and HAH of Hai An Transport & Stevedoring JSC 4.47%.
Securities stocks also showed their positive performance as SSI of Saigon Securities went up 3.1%, VND of VNDirect Securities 1.55%, VCI of Viet Capital Securities 0.13%, HCM of Ho Chi Minh City Securities 1.05%, TVS of Tri Viet Securities 1.28%, and VDS of Viet Dragon Securities 2.57%.
Real estate, manufacturing, energy and aviation groups saw a divergence. Among the property codes, VHM of Vinhomes increased 0.72%, VRE of Vincome Retail 2.81%, NVL of Novaland 0.67%, and KBC of Kinhbac City Development Holding Corp. 1%; while BCM of Becamex IDC Corp. fell 0.37%, DIG of DIG Corp. 1.08%, PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development Corp. 1.45%, and ITA of Tan Tao Investment and Industry Corp. 1.42%, Notably, LGC of CII Bridges & Roads Investment JSC dropped to its floor price.
In the manufacturing group, HPG of steel giant Hoa Phat gained 2.38% to VND25,800 ($1.1), the highest price in 12 months. Its market price went up more than 20% in June and almost 50% from the beginning of this year.
ACG of An Cuong Wood - Working JSC hit its ceiling price, DGC of Duc Giang Chemicals 0.92%, DHG of Hau Giang Pharmaceuticals 3.33%, and IMP of Imexpharm Pharmaceutical JSC 1.18%; while VNM of Vinamilk declined 0.14%, SAB of brewer Sabeco 1.03%, VCF of Vinacafé Bienhoa JSC 5.03%, and TLG of Thien Long Group 1.88%.
Stocks of retail firms closed in the red, with MWG of Mobile World Investment Corp., PNJ of Phu Nhuan Jewelry, and FRT of FPT Retail losing 0.34%, 1.18% and 0.58% respectively.
Foreign investors continued to be net sellers on the HoSE for the third consecutive session to the tune of about VND460 billion ($19.55 million). VNM was most net sold by the group with VND360 billion ($15.3 million).
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse inched down 0.19 points to 230.82, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market gained 0.05 points to 85.65.
