“I look forward to working with AmCham members to further foster and deepen economic, social and business ties between Vietnam and the United States,” Uddo said.
Uddo, who has been living and working in Vietnam since 2022, is president of AES Vietnam, the largest U.S. investor in the country. AES has offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Thuan and Quang Ninh.
Prior to moving to Vietnam, Uddo served AES Corporation as vice president of market development, managing a commercial portfolio that included developing energy resilience solutions for the U.S. government as well as various business development objectives across AES’s international businesses.
Founded in 1994, AmCham Hanoi is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to increase trade and investment between the U.S. and Vietnam. AmCham members represent billions of dollars in foreign investment, tens of thousands of direct employees, hundreds of thousands of indirect employees, and account for significant share of Vietnam’s exports and tax revenues.
The U.S. was the 19th-largest foreign investor in Vietnam last year with committed FDI of $626.3 million, according to Vietnam’s investment ministry.
It has also been Vietnam’s biggest export market for several years, with a turnover of $96.8 billion in 2023, Vietnamese government data showed.
