Aircraft supplier Universal Alloy Corporation to make composite components at Vietnam plant

United States-based Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC), a leading composite components manufacturer for the aerospace industry, is making phase 2 investments in its factory in Vietnam to expand production.

The 16.8 hectare project at the Danang Hi-tech Park in the eponymous central coastal city has a total investment of VND3,943.2 billion ($158.2 million).

The first investment began in 2019 for the first phase of manufacturing aerospace components, including preparing raw materials and assembling aluminium alloy items. The second phase will paint products and manufacture composite components.

Overall, on a yearly basis, the project will manufacture 3,570 tons of items, process the surface of 1,000 tons, assemble 500 tons, and produce 50 tons of composite components. The factory will supply its products to Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and tier-1, 2, 3 suppliers of the aviation industry.

Among the more notable of its products are raceways, stringers, struts, seat rails, cross beams, actuator beams, bent sheet parts, splices, seat tracks, wing cleats, and fuselage stringers.

Registered foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam hit $18 billion in the year to July 20, up 10.9% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment. Danang’s figure in the period was $29.77 million, up 7.3% year-on-year. It ranked 31st among all localities in the country regarding FDI commitments.
