Apple supplier Wistron to invest $45 mln more in northern Vietnam
Taiwan-headquartered electronics manufacturer Wistron, a supplier to Apple, is set to invest $45 million more in its factory in Vietnam’s northern province of Ha Nam, raising the total investment to $363.9 million.
According to the investment certificate granted to the firm in May, also the sixth amendment, Wistron will invest in its 23.1-hectare plant in Dong Van III industrial park.
Wistron will itself pour $135 million into the project and mobilize the rest from other sources by April 2025. Of the $135 million, Wistron completed a $90-million portion in October 2023.

Wistron started the first-phase construction in April 2020 and put the factory into operation in December 2021. For the second phase, the firm kicked off construction in June 2023 and plans to put it into operation in April 2025.
In the first phase, the investment’s annual output includes 228,000 laptops, 600,000 motherboards, 700,000 desktops, 100,000 webcams, and 720,000 docking stations.
For the second phase, the annual output will rise to four million laptops, six million LCD displays, 1.5 million docking stations, one million motherboards, two million desktops, 375,000 webcams, and others.
The factory is now operational with 2,900 workers, and employment is set to increase to 14,470 after the expansion.
