Chip giant Synopsys opens office in Hanoi, fourth in Vietnam
Synopsys, a leading chip business based in California, opened its Hanoi office on Wednesday, the fourth in Vietnam after two in Ho Chi Minh City and one in Danang city, furthering its involvement in Vietnam’s semiconductor sector.
Amit Khanuja, vice president, engineering at Synopsys, said the launch of Hanoi office marked the firm’s expansion and dedication to the local economy and society.
He also highlighted the growing demand for chips amid the increasing popularity of artificial intelligence (AI) and Synopsys as a trusted chip designer.
The other industries, such as industrial, automotive, IOT and mobile, have a massive demand for chips, Khanuja added.

Nguyen Khac Lich, general director of the Authority of ICT Industry and Communications, the Ministry of Information and Communications, emphasized Synopsys’s vision meets Vietnam’s digitalization process as the country considers semiconductor a key industry.
Vietnam seeks to mobilize all resources for the task and the cooperation with Synopsys is a natural one, he added.
On its website, Synopsys showed that it is recruiting for various positions in Hanoi, including embedded memory layout manager, analog circuit design engineer, analog design engineer, senor analog layout engineer, and analog design supervisor.
The government plans to train between 50,000 and 100,000 high-skilled workers in the 2025-2030 period as the country braces for a fresh investment wave to sweep its semiconductor industry, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
He noted the plan was part of broader efforts to develop a skilled workforce in tandem with fostering research and development, technology application, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
In January, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said Vietnam had selected five universities for training the semiconductor industry workforce. The five institutions are VNU Hanoi, VNUHCM, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, FPT University, and Danang University of Science and Technology.
