The 19-hectare factory, located in Phu An Thanh Industrial Park, Ben Luc district, is the first food and beverage factory in Vietnam to achieve LEED Gold certification, which reflects the giant's sustainable development strategy in the country, according to a release.

The facility is equipped with five advanced bottling lines, with a total capacity of up to 1 billion liters of beverages per year.

According to Coca-Cola leaders, the factory is designed to use renewable energy, helping to reduce emissions. Specifically, a 6 MW rooftop solar power system is deployed to provide a stable and clean source of electricity, while a 10-ton biomass boiler system replaces traditional diesel, significantly reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

The factory possesses a system to recover and reuse up to 89% of the water used for production. The recovered water is treated to meet production quality standards, contributing to reducing water use.

It has also implemented the “Wall-to-Wall” seamless supply model, a strategic cooperation initiative between Coca-Cola and Baosteel for the supply of can packaging. This initiative not only optimizes logistics operations but also saves energy used during transportation.

Milly Cheng, CEO of Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam, said the techonology helps the factory reduce 7,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Duc Tam, Deputy Minister of Finance said: "The Vietnamese Government hopes that Coca-Cola will continue to affirm its position as a model FDI enterprise, fully complying with Vietnamese laws and obligations related to taxes, social insurance, labor management, and environmental protection."

"The company is also expected to continue pioneering in application of science and technology, innovation, green transformation, digital transformation, and utility of renewable energy and environmentally friendly materials towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050," he added.

Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam is a member company of Swire Coca-Cola Limited, a subsidiary of Swire Pacific Ltd. It currently has four factories located in Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Da Nang, and Hanoi.

The company has created jobs for about 4,000 direct employees. It has reached 800,000 retail points nationwide with an ecosystem of 11 products.

Long An and Tay Ninh were recently merged to form new Tay Ninh province which borders Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, and Cambodia.
