Danish toymaker Lego opens administration building at $1.3 bln Vietnam factory
Lego officially "opened the doors" to its new Lego manufacturing Vietnam administration building, part of the company's $1.3 billion Vietnam factory, on February 3, the first working day after the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet).
Klaus Gørrissen, project director at Lego Group, disclosed the information on his LinkedIn on Tuesday.
Lego's “state of the art” factory in Vietnam’s southern province of Binh Duong will set a new benchmark on “how to build safer, cheaper, faster but without compromising quality,” the executive added.

Construction of the project began in November 2022. The 44.8-hectare factory in VSIP III Industrial Park also serves eco-friendly targets, including the installation of 12,400 rooftop solar cells totaling 7.34 MWp, according to Lego. The factory is set to employ 4,000 people.
In May 2024, Lego COO Carsten Rasmussen told then Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang that the toymaker aims to inaugurate the Vietnam factory in April 2025. This is the toy giant’s sixth plant and first carbon-neutral facility. It is also Lego's largest overseas investment.
In November 2024, Lego said it had completed 90% of the construction and started trial production at the factory. The trial production has an annual capacity of 30,000 tons. It is set to take months to ensure official production can fulfill Lego’s strict requirements for its facilities worldwide.
Correction: The story has been corrected to say that Lego opened its new manufacturing Vietnam administration building, part of the company's $1.3 billion Vietnam factory, instead of opening the factory, as Klaus Gørrissen, project director at Lego Group, changed his writing on LinkedIn. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.
