Korean Air announces new country manager for Vietnam

Korean Air has appointed Kyoung Hee Kang as its new regional manager for Vietnam as the Korean airline is looking to serve the increasing demand of travelers between the two countries.

Kang, who joined Korean Air in 1997, is a seasoned airline manager with extensive experience across multiple strategic roles within the company, including roles in passenger sales, human resources development, and regional operations, the airline said in a statement.

She assumes this position following her role at Korean Air's regional headquarters in Korea, where she served as head of sales management group and oversaw operations in Singapore and Malaysia.

“Her academic background in communications and media, combined with her extensive aviation experience, aligns with Korean Air's strategic objectives for market development and stakeholder engagement in Vietnam,” added the statement.

“Vietnam represents one of Korean Air's most dynamic markets in Southeast Asia, with our extensive network serving Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc," said Kang.

"The country's robust economic growth and increasing demand for both business and leisure travel present significant opportunities. We are committed to strengthening our presence across these five key Vietnamese destinations and enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and our global network through our Seoul Incheon hub," she added.

For Vietnam, Korean Air recently announced an increase in flight frequency from Seoul Incheon to Nha Trang, a famous beach destination in the south-central region, from October 27, and Seoul Incheon to Phu Quoc, from December 15, for the winter season.

Both destinations had once-daily flights increased to twice daily. The airline also flies to Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, and Hanoi in Vietnam. It uses the A321neo for some of its flights to Vietnam.

With its global hub at Incheon International Airport (ICN), Korean Air serves 114 cities in 40 countries on five continents with a modern fleet of 158 aircraft and over 20,000 professional employees.

Between January and October this year, South Korea was Vietnam’s largest inbound tourism market, with 3.73 million South Korean arrivals, up 28.5% year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office.
