Logistics, free trade zone projects proposed for My Thuy Port area in central Vietnam
My Thuy International Port Joint Venture Company (MTIP) has proposed studying several projects associated with its investment in My Thuy Port of Quang Tri province, central Vietnam.

The My Thuy Port project received in-principle approval from the Prime Minister in 2019, with a total investment of VND15 trillion ($577.89 million).
The 685-hectare port will feature 10 berths developed in three phases - four in phase 1 (2018-2025), three in phase 2 (2026-2031), and the remaining three in the final phase (2032-2036).
My Thuy Port will primarily serve industrial facilities in the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone and provincial industrial parks, as well as attract transit products to Laos and northeast Thailand along the East-West economic corridor.
The company said it has completed several procedures to date, including detailed construction planning, land use planning, environmental impact assessment, and basic and technical design for construction, and obtained construction permits for some items.
It has built 320 meters of the breakwater and is currently constructing the wharf and revetment behind berths 1 and 2, with overall progress reaching 31.36%.
MTIP proposed the provincial People’s Committee allow it to study such projects as an 86-hectare logistics zone with a total investment of VND2.23 trillion ($85.92 million); a 154-hectare coal blending, classification, and storage complex that would import coal from Indonesia, Australia, and Russia to mix with Laotian coal; and a 156-hectare free trade zone.
Acting Chairman of Quang Tri province Hoang Nam asked relevant agencies to study the proposal and promptly advise the committee to make decisions.
