Moc Chau plateau nominated for Asia's leading regional nature destination title
Moc Chau, a plateau in northwestern Vietnam, has been named among the four nominees for Asia's leading regional nature destination in 2022 by World Travel Awards.
Moc Chau in Son La province is a region of cool temperature, tea hills and ethnic villages. About 200 kilometers west of Hanoi and around 1,000 meters above sea level, the plateau lures visitors with its average temperatures of 20 degrees Celsius.
These conditions make Moc Chau one of the best choices to escape the urban hustle and bustle.
Moc Chau is home to the newly-launched 632-meter-long Bach Long glass bridge, the world’s longest glass bridge as determined by Guinness World Records (GWR).
The bridge, located in Moc Chau Island Tourist Area, was also recognised by GWR as the longest glass-bottomed cliffside path, measuring 327 meters, and by World Record Association (WRA) as the world's longest glass-bottomed bridge.
The other nominees for Asia's leading regional nature destinations are Erawan National Park (Thailand), Fewa Lake (Nepal) and Inle Lake (Myanmar).
Along with Moc Chau, in 2022, other nominees include Hanoi (Asia's Leading City Break Destination), Ho Chi Minh City (Asia's Leading Business Travel Destination), Hoi An town and Hue town (Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination), Da Nang city (Asia's Leading Festival & Event Destination), Cuc Phuong National Park (Asia's Leading National Park), Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Asia's Leading Tourist Board).
The ancient town of Hoi An is a UNESCO heritage site in Quang Nam province, while Hue, home to Hue Imperial Citadel, is Vietnam's former capital, in Thua Thien-Hue province, both in central Vietnam.
World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Today, the brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.
