Construction of the VND85.81 trillion ($3.65 billion) Ring Road 4 around Hanoi is set to begin on June 25, with completion set for 2026 and a public opening in 2027, said Dinh Tien Dung, chief of Hanoi's Party Committee, on Tuesday.
The 112.8-kilometer road, a project of national importance, features 103.1 kilometers of Ring Road 4 and a 9.7-kilometers route connecting to the Noi Bai-Ha Long Expressway linking Hanoi and Quang Ninh province. Hanoi will deliver 80% of the site for construction this month and the rest by the end of 2023.
The development has seven sub-projects, including three for site clearance and citizen resettlement, three for urban roads along the main project under public investment, and one expressway under public-private partnership (PPP) investment.
Private investors are set to provide VND29.45 trillion ($1.25 billion), while the state budget will provide VND41.86 trillion ($1.78 billion) from 2021-2025, and VND14.5 trillion ($616.84 million) from 2026-2030.
The inter-regional Ring Road 4 around Hanoi, with six lanes of expressways, will pass through Hanoi and the nearby provinces of Hung Yen and Bac Ninh. The project is expected to offer opportunities for cities and provinces along the route, as well as the Northern Key Economic Zone in general, to thrive socio-economically.
Construction on a section of Ring Road 3 around Ho Chi Minh City, the southern economic hub of Vietnam, is set to start this Sunday. On the same day, work will begin on the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, which is also part of the Southern Key Economic Zone (SKEZ).
The SKEZ covers HCMC and the provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Ba Ria- Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, and Tien Giang. Ring Road 3 will run 76.3 kilometers through HCMC, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An. It will cost an estimated VND75.4 trillion ($3.2 billion).
