Vietnam automobile sales rise 52% in Jan-Oct

The total sales of Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) members, which do not include VinFast and Hyundai, increased 52% year-on-year to 332,963 in the first 10 months of the year.

The total sales of Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) members, which do not include VinFast and Hyundai, increased 52% year-on-year to 332,963 in the first 10 months of the year.

They included 259,928 passenger cars, up 73% year-on-year; 68,498 commercial vehicles, up 6%; and 4,537 special-purpose vehicles, down 1%.

In the 10-month period, the number of completely knocked down (CKD) automobiles was 190,009, up 52%; and that of completely-built-up (CBU) cars was 142,954, up 53%.

In the first 10 months of the year, Toyota was the best seller with 72,813 units, or 24.6% of the total. Other top players were Mitsubishi with 33,364, or 11.2% of the total; KIA and Mazda cars made-by-domestic firm Thaco with 52,694 and 30,060, or 17.8% and 10.1%, respectively.

In October, VAMA members' automobile sales reached 36,560, up 9.3% versus September, including 28,230 passenger cars, up 10%; 8,003 commercial vehicles, up 6%; and 327 special-purpose cars, up 4%.
