Samsung engineering arm eyes water management service in northern Vietnam
Samsung E&A, the engineering arm of South Korean conglomerate Samsung, is interested in providing clean water and wastewater treatment in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.
Kang Hansu, chief representative of Samsung E&A Vietnam, conveyed the company’s water management interest at a Wednesday meeting with Vinh Phuc Chairman Tran Duy Dong. The firm and its Vietnamese partner, DNP Water, can also provide solid waste treatment, he added.

Samsung E&A, formerly known as Samsung Engineering, entered Vietnam in 2022 via a strategic partnership with local firm DNP Water. DNP Water now supplies one million cubic meters of clean water daily to 41 cities and provinces and aims to increase the figure to 1.5 million cubic meters.
Backing the project, Vinh Phuc Chairman Tran Duy Dong affirmed that the province has prioritized water supply and treatment was part of its drive for sustainable growth.
He called on Samsung E&A and DNP Water to collaborate with industrial parks in the province to build wastewater treatment facilities. The company can also study the feasibility of building a waste treatment factory in line with the province’s master plan, he suggested.
Dong also directed relevant agencies to facilitate the firm’s activities in the province.
Vinh Phuc, which has emerged as a favored destination for electronics ancillary companies, is seeking to attract more high-tech manufacturers. Provincial authorities see the electronic components industry as a major driver of the local economy.
The province is home to around 200 companies that manufacture electronic components, including a host of foreign-invested firms. Among these are South Korea’s Partron Vina with a $270 million investment; Heasung Vina with a $165-million project; Power Logics Vina’s $100-million project; and BH Flex Vina’s $61-million project.
