Singapore hotel operator to manage overwater resort in Phu Quoc
Singapore-headquartered hospitality group The Lux Collective and Vietnam's P Q Hai Quoc have signed a hotel management agreement for a luxury overwater resort of the latter on Phu Quoc Island.
This is the Singaporean firm’s first Southeast Asian hotel management agreement.
“Inspired by iconic Maldivian-style overwater resorts, this is our first for Vietnam and the region," said The Lux Collective CEO Paul Jones in a Ho Chi Minh City release on Monday.
Named Luxnam Phu Quoc, the resort is expected to open in late 2024. Phu Quoc is Vietnam's largest island and leading tourist attraction.
Tran Anh Duy, CEO of P Q Hai Quoc, said: “We expect Luxnam Phu Quoc to become one of Southeast Asia's top luxury resort destinations with its unique overwater design and extraordinary experiences."
The property is designed as an eye-catching overwater resort on a jungle-draped Phu Quoc Island off the southern coast, considered the Maldives of Vietnam. Tucked away between a pristine beach and tropical jungle, the dragon-shaped resort will consist of two areas connected by a four-kilometer-long jetty over the lagoon.
The island is part of Kien Giang province, and the resort sits above the shallow waters and coral reefs of Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve. The property will offer 126 villas - 109 overwater villas, 13 beach pool villas, two penthouses and two beachfront pool mansions. It will also feature restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, four swimming pools, a children's playground, according to the owner - P Q Hai Quoc Company, which signed the hotel management deal with the Singapore firm on Friday.
Phu Quoc was recently named among the top 10 best islands in Asia for Readers Choice Awards 2022 by U.S. travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler.
