State giant Agribank has new general director
Wholly state-owned Agribank has appointed deputy general director Pham Toan Vuong its council member and general director for a five-year tenure, starting from December 1.
Previously, he was the bank's deputy general director in charge of the management board for two months after general director Tiet Van Thanh had retired.
Vuong, 46, has a master's degree in economics and has been working at Agribank since 1999, with nearly seven years as deputy general director.
On the same day, Agribank's council received three new members, namely deputy general directors Nguyen Minh Phuong and Le Xuan Trung and the State Bank of Vietnam's (SBV) deputy chief of office Tu Thi Kim Thanh. The council now includes Pham Duc An as chairman and 10 other members.
At a conference to announce the new assignments on Thursday, the SBV's standing Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu emphasized that the new appointments would help strengthen Agribank's leadership and continue to affirm the key role of the state-owned bank in implementing monetary policies, contributing positively to the development of agriculture, farmers, rural areas and the national economy.
Tu also asked Agribank, a "Big 4" bank in the country, to fully complete this year's business goals, including focusing on effectively implementing the socio-economic development and recovery program, outlining a restructuring plan for the period of 2021-2025, executing charter capital hikes, and continuing the equitization roadmap.
