Thanh Hoa province okays $231 mln steel mill
Thanh Hoa province in central Vietnam has given in-principle approval for a 51-hectare steel mill with investment of VND5.5 trillion ($231 million) in the Nghi Son Economic Zone.

The project, invested by Thanh Hoa-headquartered firm DST Nghi Son Iron Steel JSC, will have an annual capacity of 980,000 tons of hot rolled coil in the first phase, and then 30,000 tons of steel structures and 300,000 tons of steel products like pipes and boxes in the second phase.
The Nghi Son Economic Zone is already home to two steel plants, both invested by Vas Group Nghi Son JSC.
Its Nghi Son 1 steel mill started operations in 2019 and has a capacity of 1.65 million tons of steel billets per year. The construction of Nghi Son 2 began in January 2022, and the new facility is set to start production in 2025, with a capacity of three million tons a year.
