US firm Molex expands Vietnam facility with solar panel installation
Molex, a U.S. manufacturer of electronic, electrical and fiber optic connectivity systems, has expanded its manufacturing facility in Hanoi with solar panel installation.
As part of Molex’s environmental stewardship initiatives, the expanded facility with additional 16,000 square meters features an on-site solar installation that supports the site’s energy needs and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Molex held the grand opening for the plant expansion Thursday at the Bac Thang Long Industrial Park in Hanoi’s Dong Anh district.
The company said the expansion would create over 200 new jobs in advanced high-tech manufacturing, but did not disclose its new investment involved.
“Expanding our manufacturing footprint in Hanoi gives us added capability and capacity in the Asia Pacific region as we plan to grow with our customers and create more opportunities for our skilled workforce,” said Molex CEO Joe Nelligan.

Molex opened its manufacturing plant in 2007. The latest expansion will support growing demand for its products that are used in many different applications inluding smartphones, TVs, home appliances, test equipment and medical devices.
The new section, fully integrated to the operating facility, features advanced robotics, high-speed injection molding, stamping, plating and automated assembly processes, along with tooling fabrication and reliability lab testing capabilities.
