Vietnam approves seven-day Lunar New Year holiday
Vietnam will celebrate the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) festival as a seven-day holiday - from February 8 to February 14, 2024.
The holiday will run from the 29th of the 12th lunar month in the Year of the Cat to the 5th of the first lunar month in the Year of the Dragon.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has assigned the labor ministry to notify public service agencies, socio-political organizations, companies and workers about the Tet and National Day holidays in 2024.

For civil servants and workers, the holiday will comprise two days before the end of the current lunar year, first three days of the next lunar year and the following weekend.
The National Day (September 2) holiday will run from Saturday, August 31, 2024 to Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
The four-day holiday means parents and students will have more time to prepare before the annual school opening day, which falls on September 5.
Other holidays in 2024 will comply with the Labor Code. The Gregorian New Year's Day will be a three-day holiday – Saturday, December 30, 2023 to Monday, January 1, 2024.
The Hung King's death anniversary (10th of the third lunar month), will be a single day holiday on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
The Reunification Day and International Labor Day will be two consecutive single-day holidays – Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
