Samsung C&T, the construction arm under South Korean chaebol Samsung, should help Vietnam businesses with energy project deployment, especially with technology transfer and workforce training.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long made the statement at a Monday meeting with a Samsung C&T delegation, led by vice president Lee Byung Soo.

Long also laudued Samsung C&T as the contractor of Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 complex, the first LNG-fired power project in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese energy market can offer various opportunities to investors, especially Samsung C&T per the South Korean giant’s technology and experiences, he added.

Vietnam is committed to developing more LNG-fired power projects, despite the trend of renewable energy amid the slow progress of some gas-fired power projects, Long emphasized.

Regarding nuclear power, Long highlighted Vietnam would prioritize using verified technologies. Until 2035, Vietnam aims to develop four turbines of 6,000 MW and the country is willing to cooperate with South Korea, he said.

Samsung C&T, the biggest construction business in South Korea, is known for participating in many global projects, such as Burj Khalifa in the UAE, Merdeka 118 in Malaysia, Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE, and an LNG terminal in Singapore.
