Vietnam workers to enjoy 7-day Lunar New Year break
The government has agreed on the labour ministry's proposal whereby the country's Lunar New Year holiday in January will last seven days.

Accordingly, civil servants and public employees will have five days off work for the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet) and two days as compensatory rest as they are weekend days, in line with the Labor Code.
The five days last from January 20, 2023 (Friday) to the end of January 26, 2023 (Thursday).
Previously, the ministry had reported to the Prime Minister the plan for the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2023 after collecting opinions from ministries and ministerial-level agencies.
The New Year's Day holiday will break for three days, from December 31, 2022 to January 2, 2023, because the first day of the year falls on a Sunday. Civil servants and employees will have a compensatory day’s leave the following Monday.
The Hung Kings death anniversary (April 29), Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) combined will last five days from April 29 to May 3.
The above schedule will apply to civil servants and public employees, but the labor ministry encourages all companies to apply it for employees.
Apart from the national holidays, foreign workers in Vietnam are allowed to have one day off for their traditional New Year’s day and another for their home country's National Day.
