Vietnamese firm eyes $228 mln wind power projects in central province
Vietnam Electricity Construction JSC has proposed a study into investing in four wind power plants worth VND5,500 billion ($228 million) in the central province of Ha Tinh.
The firm (VNECO), listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) as VNE, proposed the 120-megawatt Ky Anh wind power plant project in Ky Anh district and Ky Anh town. The investment is VND2,430 billion ($100.7 million), including VND486 billion contributed by VNE.
VNE also eyes three projects of Ky Anh PT1, PT2, and PT3 totaling 150 MW in Ky Anh district with a total investment of VND3,040 billion ($126.1 million), including VND608 billion from VNE.

According to the plan, the projects are set to be put into power planning in December, kick off the construction in June next year, and begin operation in December 2024.
VNE is responsible for the feasibility of the survey proposal, besides transmission planning, and payment of relevant fees during project implementation.
Ha Tinh authorities have asked relevant departments to check and consult on the VNE proposals VNE.
The central province has high potential for renewable energy, including wind and solar power, according to the Vietnam Clean Energy Association. Ha Tinh’s advantages are a long coastal line of 137 kilometers and high average wind speeds of 8-9 meters per second, above the requirement of 6.5 meters per second.
The province has already approved many projects, including 120-MW HBRE Ha Tinh worth VND4,600 billion ($191 million), 120-MW Eco Wind Ky Anh, 800-MW Ky Anh offshore wind power, 250-MW Cam Xuyen wind power, among others.
VNE, formerly known as Electricity Installation Company No.3, is headquartered in the central coastal city of Danang. Its main businesses are installation of electrical grids and transformer stations of up to 500 kV; construction of civil facilities; and development of urban areas and infrastructures, industrial parks, processing zones, and high-tech parks.
