VinFast CEO-owned firm secures extra deal to lease EVs to ride-hailing firm
A taxi service provider based in Vietnam’s central province of Binh Dinh will lease 1,000 VinFast electric cars from an electric vehicle (EV) leasing firm that is 90% owned by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, the CEO of the Vietnamese carmaker.
Holi Vietnam Technology Development Investment Co., Ltd. (HoliTech) will use VinFast cars supplied by For Green Future Trading and Services JSC (FGF) in 2024-2025 to offer passenger transport service to locals and tourists.
Besides, V-Green Global Charging Station, also 90% owned by Vuong, will grant taxi service provider Lado Taxi a franchise to deploy charging services in Binh Dinh province under a revenue-sharing model.
These agreements were finalized following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on local green transition between Vingroup, VinFast’s parent company, and the Binh Dinh People’s Committee on Thursday.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Anh Tuan expected Vingroup to launch charging stations no later than the first quarter of 2025.
Since early this month, VinFast has secured several deals to lease its cars to taxi operators and transport service providers.
On November 11, An An’s Garden inked an agreement to lease and purchase 3,279 VinFast vehicles from Xanh SM (GSM), an electric taxi service and a major purchaser of VinFast vehicles, to launch the An Taxi brand in Hanoi’s suburban town of Son Tay.
On November 4, VinFast inked an MoU with the Durango Drivers’ Union in Mexico, in which the latter expressed interest in buying 3,000 VF 5 cars and 300 electric buses to run in Mexico.
On November 1, Viet Duc Transport Service Trading Company Limited concluded a pact with GSM to lease and buy 400 VinFast cars.
Earlier this month, VinFast announced that it delivered over 11,000 EVs in October, bringing its total deliveries for the first 10 months of the year to more than 51,000 units. The figure enabled it to be the top-selling car brand in Vietnam during this period.
