VN-Index gains 5 points, liquidity remains low
The VN-Index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased 5.32 points, or 0.47%, to close at 1,125.5 on Monday.
However, the major bourse’s trading value remained low, at only VND10.8 trillion ($457.87 million) as compared to the average of VND15 trillion ($635.9 million) last month.
The HoSE saw 253 gainers and 169 losers, with more than 558 million shares changing hands.

The VN30 index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest-cap stocks, inched up 0.24 points to 1,123.37, with 15 tickers rising and 10 declining.
In the banking group, BID of BIDV increased by 2.65% and SHB of Saigon-Hanoi Bank 3.6%. Meanwhile, EIB of Eximbank fell 3.06%.
A series of codes stood at reference prices, including VCB of Vietcombank, VPB of VPBank, MBB of MBBank, ACB of Asia Commercial Bank, and VIB of Vietnam International Bank.
Securities tickers also saw a divergence, with SSI of Saigon Securities down 0.39%, VND of VNDirect 0.26%, and TVS of Thien Viet Securities 1.71%; while VCI of Viet Capital Securities up 1.5%, HCM of Ho Chi Minh City Securities 0.18%, BSI of BIDV Securites 1.08%, and ORS of Tien Phong Securities 1.32%.
Among real estate stocks, VHM of Vinhomes expanded 1.64%, BCM of BECAMEX IDC Corp 2.15%, KBC of Kinhbac City Development Holding Corp 1.53%, and HDC of Ba Ria-Vung Tau House Development JSC 2.5%. On the other side, KDH went down 1.3%, NVL of Novaland 2.02 %, and ITA of Tan Tao Investment and Industry Corporation 4.88%.
Stocks of manufacturing companies closed in the green. HPG of steel giant Hoa Phat gained 0.19%, MSN of Masan Group 0.27%, GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group 3.87%, DHG of DHG Pharmaceutical JSC 4.12%, DCM of Petrovietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer JSC 3.22%, and DPM of Petrovietnam Fertilizer & Chemicals Corporation 2.59%.
Notably, seafood stocks rallied with VHC of Vinh Hoan Corp hitting its ceiling price, ANV of Navico increased 4.46% and FMC of Sao Ta Foods 4%.
The retail group showed poor performance as MWG of Mobile World Investment Corp, PNJ of Phu Nhuan Jewelry, and FRT of FPT Retail fell 0.69%, 1.33% and 0.56% respectively.
Foreign investors were net purchasers on the HoSE for the fourth consecutive session to the tune of about VND130 billion ($5.48 million).
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse went down 0.72 points to 226.6, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market lost 0.23 points to 85.77.
