VN-Index gains after two losing sessions
The VN-Index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), rose 9.51 points or 0.91% to 1,050.53 on Thursday, after two losing sessions.
The major bourse saw 334 gainers and 115 losers, with nearly 917 million shares changing hands for over VND15.45 trillion ($649 million), an increase of 10% in trading value from the previous session.
Twenty out of 30 blue chips gained, pushing the VN30-Index up 15.15 points to 1,062.73.

The market was supported by securities and banking stocks, with large caps STB of Sacombank, TCB of Techcombank, SSI of Saigon Securities, and VND of VNDirect Securities hitting their ceiling prices.
On the other side, the three stocks of the Vingroup family - VIC (Vingroup), VHM (Vinhomes), and VRE (Vincom Retail) fell 0.2%, 1.8% and 2.5%, respectively. Notably, NVL of Novaland Group continued to hit its floor price for the fourth consecutive session, with nearly 68 million shares traded for nearly VND1.23 trillion ($51.67 million).  
The steel and real estate groups also showed their good performance with many tickers enjoying the maximum expansion like HSG and NKG of steel makers Hoa Sen and Nam Kim, CEO, DXG, DIG and L14 of property developers CEO Group, Dat Xanh Group, DIG Corp and Licogi 14, respectively.
The green color also covered many other groups like oil and gas, retail, chemicals, healthcare, cement, construction, fertilizer, garment, and industrial real estate.
Foreign investors were net buyers for the 14th consecutive session to the tune of over VND577 billion ($24.24 million) on the HoSE, the lowest in 10 net purchasing sessions. 
They mainly net bought VIC, VHM, STB, and DXG, while net selling VCB of Vietcombank, HPG of steel giant Hoa Phat, BID of BIDV bank, and VRE.
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse went up 5.44 points or 2.59% to 215.37, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market rose 1.17 points or 1.66% to 71.62.
