VN-Index records five-session gaining streak
Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index surged 10.93 points, or 0.89%, to close at 1,234.98 on Tuesday, marking its fifth straight gaining session.
The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), represented by the index, saw up to 366 gainers, including 15 hitting their ceiling prices, and 141 losers.
Its trading value expanded by 15.04% from the previous session last Thursday to VND24.56 trillion ($1.02 billion).
The VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest-cap stocks, surged 8.97 points to 1,234.53, with up to 25 tickers rising.

The real estate group had the most positive influence on the market. With a trading value of nearly VND1.15 trillion ($47.8 million), NVL of Novaland became the most active stock, expanding 4.6%. Its strong gain was attributed to the removal of legal problems facing its project in the southern province of Dong Nai by the Ministry of Construction's working group.
Many stocks in the group hit their ceiling prices, such as HPX of Hai Phat Invest and QCG of Quoc Cuong Gia Lai Corp. CEO of CEO Group rose 4.2% while the rest mainly increased around 1-2%.
Also leading the market were finance, materials and industrial stocks. Of which, MSB of Maritime Bank expanded 6.4% with a trading value of nearly VND360 billion ($14.96 million), three times higher than the previous session.
Foreign investors were net sellers on the HoSE to the tune of VND390.6 billion ($16.2 million). They mainly net sold SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities and VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup.
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 1.01% to 252.28 points, while the UPCoM-Index on the Unlisted Public Companies Market rose 1.04% to 94.29.
