Sun Group-invested Sun World Ha Nam Water Park, home to Southeast Asia’s first-ever parallel racing water slide, is set to welcome visitors by the end of this month.

The complex, set to make its debut on occassion of Vietnam’s National Reunification Day and May Day holidays (April 30–May 1), is expected to become one of the top summer travel destinations in northern Vietnam.

The water park is a key component of the broader Sun Urban City project developed by Vietnam's leading tourism real estate giant Sun Group.

Located in Phu Ly town, Ha Nam province, 50 km from Hanoi, the complex has been built with a total investment of approximately VND35 trillion (around $1.35 billion). The park’s official grand opening is scheduled for May 10.

Once operational, Ha Nam will become the first province in Vietnam to host a water park that remains open through the night - a feature designed to enhance visitor experience, especially during peak weekends in summer.

In its first phase, Sun World Ha Nam Water Park will span 10 out of 14.2 planned hectares, accommodating an average of 6,500 guests daily, with a maximum hourly capacity of up to 19,000 visitors.

Among its standout features is the region’s first parallel racing tube slide, a brand-new attraction for Southeast Asia. The slide stretches over 228 meters, with an elevation drop of nearly 25 meters, allowing two riders to race side-by-side from start to finish. The ride can serve up to 720 participants per hour.

The initial phase of the park will also include 14 themed play zones, 40 water slides, a wave pool spanning over 4,600 square meters, and a 500-meter lazy river.

What sets this water park apart is its unique cultural theme inspired by Vietnamese water puppetry, a cherished form of traditional folk art. The design draws from iconic puppet performances like The Four Sacred Animals, Boat Racing, Fairy Dance at the Water Pavilion, and Chasing the Fox to Catch the Duck.

Visitors might find themselves immersed in the ambiance of northern Vietnamese villages, with architecture and motifs featuring communal house roofs, buffalo-herding boys, banyan trees, and village ponds. Traditional materials and artistic elements - like lacquer-style finishes, eggshell inlays, and dragon cloud motifs - enhance the nostalgic atmosphere.

The park is divided into several themed sections, each reflecting a famous water puppet show. The restaurants and support facilities follow the same cultural motif, creating a cohesive and immersive experience.

Sun Group is the investor of Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh province, home to Ha Long Bay. This is the only privately-invested airport in Vietnam. The group is also the investor of Ha Long International Cruise Port in Ha Long town.

Sun Group owns many entertainment and tourism complexes across Vietnam, such as Sun World Ba Na Hills and Asia Park (Danang city), Sun World Fansipan Legend (Lao Cai province), Sun World Phu Quoc (Phu Quoc island, Kien Giang province), Sun World Ha Long (Ha Long town, Quang Ninh province), Sun World Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh province), and Sun World Cat Ba (Cat Ba islands, Hai Phong city).
