Amkor Technology Vietnam earns $13 mln from exporting in 2024
Amkor Technology Vietnam, under U.S.-headquartered semiconductor giant Amkor Technology, started official operation in Vietnam in Q3/2024 and earned an export revenue of VND337.5 billion ($13.3 million) last year.
The firm made the statement during Party General Secretary To Lam’s visit to Amkor Technology factory in the northern province of Bac Ninh on Monday.
In 2024, Amkor Technology paid taxes of $3.5 million, the firm added.
Amkor Technology Vietnam now employs 117 foreigners and 1,256 Vietnamese laborers, with the monthly income of Vietnamese workers at VND22.3 million ($878.6). The figure was triple the average monthly income of contracted workers in Vietnam in 2024 at VND7.7 million.
To Lam said he appreciated Amkor Technology’s investments in Vietnam and facilitation to help the country join the global supply chain. Vietnam always facilitates the firm’s investment and further developments in the chip and semiconductor sectors, he added.
Amkor Technology held a grand opening for its factory in Bac Ninh province in October 2023. The factory, covering 57 acres (23.1 hectares) at the Yen Phong 2C Industrial Park, offers turnkey solutions from design to electrical testing, beginning with Advanced System in Package (SiP) and memory production.
The project has an initial investment capital of $529.6 million. In July 2024, Amkor received a certificate for additional investments of $1.07 billion. This is 11 years earlier than its original plan of investing $1.6 billion by 2035.
The factory has two phases with an annual output of 600 million and 1.2 billion items, equivalent to 210 tons and 420 tons, respectively.
